Why do i need an E-commerce site?

The UK is one of the most internet-based economies in the world. Worth £121 billion in 2010, it contributes to 8.3% of the UK economy, growing at a faster rate than other countries.

The UK also carries out far more retail online. Aproximately 13.5% of all purchases were done over the internet in 2010, and this is projected to rise to 23% by 2016.

Researchers predict it will continue to expand at a rate of 11% per year for the next four years, reaching a total value of £221bn by 2016.

Online sales growth will continue to outpace growth in overall retail sales , as more shoppers use the web to save time, stretch their pennies and buy items not readily available in nearby physical stores.

The popularity of online shopping is continuing to grow rapidly, with over half of the British population aged 15 or older shopping online.

The 50% benchmark was achieved for the very first time in February 2010 (50.6%), while March saw further growth in the number of online shoppers to 51%.
